Polyoxyethylene (4) Sorbitan Monolaurate Fatty Acid Esters Surfactant
Polysorbate 21, also known as polyoxyethylene (4) monolaurate, consists of sorbitol, ethylene oxide and lauric acid. It has a molecular formula of C₂₆H₅₀O₁₀. At room temperature, it appears as a pale-yellow to yellow viscous liquid. This O/W emulsifier has an HLB of 13.3 and is soluble in methanol, ethanol, glycol, and ethyl acetate.
