Cosmetics
Low molecular weight PEG (Mr < 2000) serves as wetting agents and consistency regulators in creams, lotions, toothpaste, and hair care products. High molecular weight PEG (Mr > 2000) is ideal for lipsticks, deodorants, soaps, and beauty cosmetics.
Pharmaceutical
Medical-grade PEG is used in contact lens solutions, synthetic lubricants, sustained-release drug carriers, medical polymer surface modification, contraceptive devices, hydrophilic anticoagulant polyurethane, and as a laxative agent.
Food Additive
Approved for use in candy and chocolate product coatings as a food-grade additive.
